Congratulations To Our Class of 2018

Congratulations To Our Class of 2018

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Results for Flowers Gay Schools

The Ministry of Education (MoE) via its Regional Directorate has officially furnished the Flowers Gay Schools with the ‘Broad Sheet’ of the The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results and by the special Grace of the Lord God Almighty, we are happy to announce that the ‘Class of 2018’ made the Schools proud.

Thankfully the assiduousness and diligence of the pupils coupled with the efficient commitment of staff and the vigilance and conscientious efforts of parents and guardians paid off.

Two pupils of the ‘Class of 2018’ recorded Grade 1s in all nine subjects (‘9 Ones’ as it’s normally called).

Over the recent past Flowers Gay Schools has considered (for ourselves), the grades 1 to 3 as our preferred/quality passes. Anything above a Grade 3 raises concerns for us, considering the rigorous preparations our pupils are put through. We therefore use the Quality/ Preferred passes (Grades 1-3) in our analysis as one of the indicators of improvement or otherwise.

The percentage of ‘Quality Passes’ recorded by candidates presented for the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) over the recent past have risen sturdily. In 2016, 67% of pupils presented for the BECE Examinations by Flowers Gay Schools recorded ‘Quality Passes’. In 2017 69% of pupils presented recorded ‘Quality Passes’ indicating a 2% growth in Quality Passes as compared to the previous year (2106). Thankfully, in 2018 78% of candidates presented for the BECE Examinations recorded ‘Quality Passes’ in the various subjects, signifying a 9% rise in ‘Quality Passes’ as compared to the previous year (2017).

The worst Grade (considering the candidates’ best 6 subjects which include their compulsory 4 core subjects) recorded in 2017 was 28 whereas in 2018, the worst Grade recorded was 23.

50% of the pupils presented made between Grades 06 and 11 in 2018 where as in 2017 50% of the pupils presented actually fell within grade 06 and 13 – strongly indicating that 50% of the class presented in 2018 improved on the performance of 50% of the ‘Class of 2017’.

A comparison of academic of pupils presented for the BECE performance between 2017 and 2018 (RE: candidates’ best 6 subjects which include their compulsory 4 core subjects) between Grades 06 and 18 is shown below.
